Why do conversations about money often feel awkward?

Navigating this space, particularly in the Christian world, can get strangely weird.

​Scarcity, anxiety about having enough, fear of getting ripped off ... perhaps more than ever in a post-covid world, these narratives can so easily capture the imaginations of provider and client alike, even for Christians. It can make conversations about money unnecessarily awkward.

Could we do it differently?

A different vision of the good life

Jesus
  • embraced an Eden/New Creation perspective of God’s overflowing abundance, generosity and care
  • trusted that in God's economy there can be enough for all 
  • saw everyday transactions as opportunties for deepening phronesis (practical wisdom) and relational captial 
  • believed it possible for us to image this in our own recipricity of giving and receiving​

​So, I’m curious about a relational approach to pricing and the value we both receive from a potential collaboration. 
What might happen if
  • financial negotiations for services were opportunities for mutual blessing, strengthening of social bonds, and experiencing the generosity of God?
  • we paid attention and responded to invitations to shalom between us in the process?
  • exchanges about price and value reflected a life-giving alternative to common narratives of lack, hoarding and anxiety?

  • Full day teaching seminar/workshop/retreat: $1500-$3000/day (depending on what's required, number of people, your budget) + travel/accommodation where relevant
